Why Customer Service is the New Marketing

Why Customer Service is the New Marketing

Tips to improve your insurance agency’s customer service.

In today’s society, customer service is everything. If you’ve ever read reviews on Google, Yelp, Facebook, or otherwise, you’ll know just how damaging poor customer service can rank the business. If a client has felt offended, condescended, or insulted by an insurance agent, you can be sure that they will publish the news online to warn others. Similarly, positive customer service experience has caused clients to leave stunning reviews, recommending the agency to all. So, how can you make the most of customer service as a marketing tool?

Most business owners know that it’s cheaper to nurture current clients than to spend masses on marketing and advertising. Both are important, but if positive customer service leads to great reviews, then you’ve already saved money in advertising costs. In addition, providing stellar customer service is one way to keep your loyal clients happy so they stick with you and continue to generate sales.

Check out these useful tips on how to incorporate quality customer service into your marketing.

  • Set up an autoresponder email or Facebook message if you don’t think you can get to messages right away. This message lets customers know you’ll get back to them as soon as possible.
  • Hire an intern or assistant to stay on time of customer service concerns. It’s easier to diffuse a situation at the first sign of trouble than to rectify one that’s blown out of proportion.
  • Send out educational content to foster a relationship of trust and service.
  • Ask for client feedback by regularly sending surveys.
  • Ask clients to leave testimonials and reviews.

Easy Ways to Wow Your Customers and Boost Loyalty

Easy Ways to Wow Your Customers and Boost Loyalty

Top tricks to improve your customer’s loyalty to your business.

Every business depends on happy customers. As an insurance agency, your livelihood depends on satisfied clients that renew their policies time and time again. In today’s society, insurance clients don’t just want a quick policy and a cheap premium. They want high-quality service and the chance to feel appreciated. If you’re looking for quick and easy ways to let your customers know you’re appreciative of their loyalty, take a look at these tricks!

Throw in a freebie. A complimentary gift puts a smile on just about everyone’s face! Whether you gift your client a notepad or a pen, know that these small gifts can go a long way. These are little touches that are often forgotten about in today’s fast-paced word, but such a simple way to thank your clients.

Offer free Wi-Fi. While your clients wait to be seen to review or begin their policies, offer them free Wi-Fi in the office. We’re all glued to our phones, and this simple gesture is a great way to show that you’re up to date with the latest technology needs of consumers.

Send updates. Insurance clients often feel like they take out an insurance policy only to be forgotten about. To prevent your consumers from feeling this way, send out monthly emails and/or text updates to keep them in the loop. This can be as simple as the latest office news, reminding them about their next policy review, and useful tips to protect their assets. Communication is a free and easy way to say you care about the consumer’s needs.

It’s time for insurance agents to become professionals that clients won’t want to leave. Talk to the professional consultants about how to get your agency to where you want it to be. Have You Tried Some of These Lesser-Known Marketing Tricks?

Have You Tried Some of These Lesser-Known Marketing Tricks?

Try these different ways to get the marketing juices flowing!

Any business owner will know that a successful marketing plan is one that uses a variety of techniques and avenues to promote your business. Although you may have tried a variety of different marketing methods, you may not have tried these lesser-known (but equally effective) strategies!

Consider Rebranding

Your brand communicates who you are and what you offer clients. Keeping up to date and staying ahead of the competition is imperative. If your brand looks outdated, you could be losing current clients and failing to attract new ones. Consider rebranding if you need to revamp your business’s image to appeal to the new market.

Word-of-Mouth Marketing

Consumers are known to trust business referrals from family and friends – so make the most of this! Your most loyal clients can act as a valuable marketing resource. Reach out to some of your best clients to engage them in a word-of-mouth marketing campaign and offer discounts or services if they refer your business.

Offer Freebies

It seems counter-intuitive to give away products for free, but they can help to grow your business. Some of the more successful brands have made their mark by giving their products (think notepads, pens, car stickers) and related items away for free. Not only does this small gift incentivize potential consumers to consider your business, but it also means your brand is getting out there in the public eye.

Selling on Value Instead of Price

Selling on Value Instead of Price

Sales tips to help your clients understand the value of insurance coverage.

When a consumer knows they need insurance, they often view the policy as a burden. To help them come to terms with the policy, they might opt for the cheapest one possible, so that they have some coverage but they aren’t spending too much money on it. You, as a professional insurance salesperson, must be able to connect with prospects and help them understand and internalize the value of the insurance you’re selling. This will then help them to opt for coverage that suits their needs rather than their wallet. Here’s how you can get started.

Ask why they bought their assets. When you find out what kind of car, home, motorcycle, etc. the prospect owns, ask them what made them choose that one. It’s rare that they will respond with, “It was the cheapest.” Instead, they’ll talk about its value, safety, location, or characteristics. Although an insurance policy will never be as fun as a new Harley, this question will make your client think about why insurance is important – to protect what matters most to them.

Talk about claims. When consumers look for an insurance policy, they often focus on the price. Rarely, they will think about ever having to file a claim. It’s your responsibility to make them recognize they may need to file a claim one day. Explain the claims process and how your agency can help them think outside the box.

Ask about the potential cost of no policy. “If you don’t purchase higher coverage limits you’ll save $10 a month. But what’s the potential cost of becoming disabled in a major accident?” When they’re weighing up the pros and cons of getting coverage, remind them of the extreme situations they could face. They may not have ever thought about needing financial coverage in the future.

Insurance Agent Traits That Consumers Want

NDOI The Insurance Agent Consumers Won’t Leave

Characteristics of an insurance agent that makes consumers want to stay.

The benefits of a personable insurance agent are beginning to be recognized by the mass media. Many consumers are waking up to the value of insurance and what it can do to protect them. As a result, they want to work with a company or an agent who is professional, knowledgeable, and actually helpful. Once they have found the agent to suit their needs, there will be very little that will make them want to start the process from scratch and find someone else. Read on for the popular traits that insurance consumers want out of an agent.

Time

Everyone has the same number of hours in the day. How do you spend yours? If you invest your time in strengthening your client relationships and seeking out new leads, you’re on the right path. If you’re valuable to consumers, you are valuable to your insurance agency, too, meaning you are much harder to replace or lay-off.

Expertise

Clients love having to make one single phone call to get the guidance they need, rather than waiting for the agent to check facts or consider proposals. Even though checking is better than giving out bad information, aim to stay on top of industry knowledge and understand your client’s needs.

Good Advice

Successful agents are able to help clients save time and money by proposing reliable and tailored insurance policies. However, better agents are able to advise clients on technology, ways to save, and more so that relationships are strengthened.

Focus

Successful insurance professionals are clear about what they want from their career. They are willing to put in the time and effort it takes to succeed, and they choose to do work that will bring value to consumers. Honing in on personal skills and more can help fine-tune an agent’s strategy.

Tips for Motivating Your Sales Team

Tips for Motivating Your Sales Team

Is your team motivated to generate exceptional results?

Most people are only driven when they are motivated. In professional sales, motivation can be the key to generating lots of sales (and revenue) for the company. Whether your team members have been in sales for one year or ten, all of them need a certain motivation to achieve their goals. To help get your insurance agency team motivated to sell more policies, check out these tips.

Reinforce the company mission and vision.

Sometimes, your team needs a jolt of motivation to boost morale and persist. Your company’s mission and values shouldn’t be overlooked in this case. Reinforce why your company does what it does and how your sales team is contributing to the good work. When your team believes in your company, they are more likely to want to see it succeed.

Create a sales contest.

A little friendly competition never hurt anyone. Get a large whiteboard for the team members to track their sales and goals. Set a designated prize such as a vacation day or a physical item. Make sure the prize is compelling enough to inspire the team to do well.

Offer flexibility.

By offering flexibility, such as the opportunity to work from home, you can motivate your team instantly. You can even let them come into the office early and leave early – whatever works well for them and your business. This flexibility and generous act enables your salespeople to perform when they’re at their best, as well as increasing the agency’s revenue and morale. This can also be a good way for management to establish trust with members of the sales team.

Fun Client Appreciation Event Ideas

Fun Client Appreciation Event Ideas

Check out these different ideas for a client-appreciation event.

For many independent insurance agencies, it can be hard to stand out against the competition. Because of this, it’s extra important to appreciate your clients for choosing you over a large, national insurer. While social media and email campaigns can help to keep your consumers involved and engaged, that doesn’t always mean that they will stick around. People like to feel valued, which is why it is a great idea for insurance agencies to throw client appreciation events! A successful event can create raving fans, leading to more referrals and top-notch reviews.

Check out these ideas to get you started!

Host a movie night. Movie theater rentals are a great budget-friendly idea to screen a family-friendly film. Although you may not get much time to interact with your client, it’s a nice gesture that encourages them to think of you as a good support system.

Holiday-themed events. These types of gatherings can be an incredible business generator if executed properly. From Christmas parties, Thanksgiving potlucks, and Valentine’s Day socials, these events get everyone involved and talking about your business.

Set up exclusive tours. Contact your local museum or gallery and arrange a tour of the whole exhibit and even the off-limits areas. A private tour is exclusive, which helps your clients feel special.

Host a pottery or painting class. These are fun activities that get people involved and give them something tangible to take home. It helps them remember you and the event.

Offer a complimentary dinner. A basic (but effective) way to show clients appreciation is to host a dinner for them and their friends and families. Choose a place suitable to your audience’s preferences and get to know their guests because they could be future clients.

Clicks vs. Followers

Clicks vs. Followers

Here is what businesses should know about clicks versus followers.

When you own your own business, you have to make some pretty tough choices. You don’t have the time or money to spend on hopeless campaigns and marketing that won’t generate results. In short, you need to make sure each penny is put to good use. This is especially true when it comes to marketing. There is a great debate about whether clicks or followers are more valuable to a business. As with most things in life, there is no clear-cut answer. Even so, here’s what you should know.

Understanding how each platform has its advantages and disadvantages is going to help your business make smart moves. For example, being at the top of Google is only valuable if thousands of people are searching for what you do. No one marketing solution will be right for the same business, so it’s best to understand what your options are.

Email Marketing & PPC for Clicks

If your business is having a big sale coming up or needs a quick boost in traffic, there is no better way to do it than with email and PPC (pay per click). A pay-per-click campaign works great because you can skip the line on Google searches and be found right at the top. Email marketing works great because it is cost effective, and it sends valuable information right to the consumer. Emails can be jazzed up every month to keep clients engaged and involved.

Social Media Marketing for Followers

Social media marketing generates high-quality results, but perhaps not as fast as the above. A strong social media campaign can reach thousands of new clients and put you in front of people who are local to your area. Another advantage of social media marketing is that your customers can tag themselves at your location, share your information, invite friends and family to follow you, and really amp up your business interaction. As a follower, they can see your updates throughout the day and can actively feel engaged with your business.

When it comes to establishing which is more valuable (clicks or followers), assess your business’s needs and goals. Marketing your insurance agency doesn’t have to be difficult! How Should You Ask for Online Reviews?

How Should You Ask for Online Reviews?

Start asking your clients for reviews.

Let’s face it, you ask a lot from your customers. You want their time, their money, and for them to return to your business for more. Asking for even more may seem risky, and a lot of business owners shy away from it, but online reviews can greatly improve your business.

Why are reviews important?

Reviews establish your business’s presence. Quite simply, it shows that your business is genuine and can be trusted. In this age of digital marketing, more and more customers are looking at reviews before making their final decision about a company. Another reason these comments are so important is because they act like personal recommendations. If someone takes a couple of minutes out of their day to leave you a review, it shows that they are using your services. Their friends and followers will see that they like your brand, and see what you have to offer. This is a free (and easy!) way to put your business in front of thousands of people.

How do I get reviews?

Naturally, businesses don’t want to push their luck with clients. But unfortunately, consumers are far more likely to write a negative comment than a positive one. If someone has a bad experience, they are almost motivated to leave bad reviews to warn others. It’s frustrating for business owners who may have handled the angry client with care and consideration. Another frustrating fact is that you can have hundreds of happy customers who are coming back again and again.

The good news is that you can encourage positive responses by asking your clients to leave you a review. Start with simply asking, either by sending an email or asking them when they come in or call you. Run a campaign on social media asking to review your services. To encourage people, you may want to consider holding a contest or giveaway if they write reviews on different sites.
