Taking on Too Much? Delegate!

Taking on Too Much? Delegate!

Take active steps to manage your time better by delegating.

As a business owner, you may feel that you have no extra time to do manage your business. From sales to marketing to managing employees, you have a lot on your plate. Unfortunately, many business owners feel that they need to be the jack of all trades all the time. It’s important that you remember to wear your business owner hat among all the others, because that is how your business grows.

Instead of doing the run of the mill tasks in your business, delegate the tasks out to competent employees. Once you identify the things that you’re going to be working on and the things you can assign to someone else, you must figure out to whom you’re going to delegate certain tasks. If you do decide to delegate, do so with consistency, without bias, and with confidence. As the business owner, you are the only one who can delegate tasks appropriately from the top, down.

To decide to whom as task goes, you may decide to work out an action form. Using a form to assign tasks means that:

  • There is no hesitation in the process. It makes it more methodical
  • You can systematically unload the things that you don’t need to be doing without hesitation. Just fill out the form and pass it along.
  • The person assigned to the task is held more accountable by the form.

If you know that there are tasks and activities that you are still doing that could easily and skillfully be performed by someone else, now is the time to act. What’s more, if you hire right, you don’t need to worry about whether or not your team can handle it.
