Are you Networking to the Best of your Abilities?

Whether you are looking for a job, need contacts for your industry or simply want to improve your business, networking can be one of the most important things you do. Here are a few networking tips you will want to keep in mind:

Get Out

While you may use the computer to find the different networking opportunities in your community, once you know where to go, you can’t just sit behind your computer. The internet is impersonal and if you want to create lasting business relationships, then this is best done in person.

Forget About it Being Work

Rather than thinking like you are doing work, focus on the social aspect of networking. You do want to remember to be professional and polite though and consider what you will talk about beforehand.

Think About Your Elevator Pitch

At any networking opportunity you should use the elevator pitch. Think about how quickly you would have to present a sales pitch to someone on an elevator and use this when you are networking.

Don’t Load Your Wallet with Business Cards

It is important to get contact information at networking events. However, you want to make sure that you put this into your phone or other electronic contact device to ensure you do not lose it.
